Banjul Executive Coordinator calls for the urgent protection of Tanbi Wetland.

 

While speaking at the launching of the Gambia Biodiversity Strategy ,the Executive Coordinator of Banjul,Honorable Ebrima Jawo emphasized the urgent need to protect the Tanbi Wetland.

Honorable Jawo highlighted the critical role of mangroves in serving as a natural sea defence as well as supporting the local ecology and marine life.

He further calls for striker enforcement of environmental laws against those disrupting Banjul’s natural habitats,warning that such actions could lead to severe consequences,especially given Banjul’s vulnerability as a city below sea level.

The launch of the Gambia’s Biodiversity Strategy was held at the Boabob Holiday Resort in Bijilo on Friday the 4th of July, presided over by Mr Ebrima Jawara , the Permanent Secretary,Ministry of Environment, Climate change and Natural Resources.

The event was organised under the auspicious of the Department of Parks and Wildlife which brought together key stakeholders from various institutions, including regional governors and Executive Coordinators
