Banjul Elects Momodou Dibba as Regional Chairman

The executive secretariat of the Gambia Transport Union (GTU) successfully concluded its nationwide regional congress tour on Monday, 3rd February 2025. The final leg of the tour took place in Banjul, where President-elect Omar Ceesay and his team oversaw the Chairmanship Electoral Congress for the Banjul City (BJL) chapter.

We are pleased to announce that Momodou Dibba has been duly elected as chairman of the GTU BJL Chapter.

The congress, held at the Banjul City Council Conference Hall, was well-attended by union members and transport operators from across the city. The election was highly competitive, with Dibba securing victory over his opponents, Malick Cham, Sulayman Tamba, and Ebrima Thorp. Out of 50 votes cast, Dibba received 19, giving him a narrow but decisive majority. In accordance with Article 9(1) of the GTU constitution, he was officially declared the winner.

Distinguished guests at the event included Deputy Mayor of Banjul, Aziz Dabakh Gaye, and Superintendent Sajor Bah of the Banjul Police Station. The GTU Executive Committee and representatives from all city garages were also in attendance.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Momodou Dibba and his new executive team and wish them success in their leadership.
