The Gambia Armed Forces have confirmed the arrest of a suspected armed robber following a swift overnight operation in Kuntaur Fula Kunda, Central River Region South.

According to a press release from the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), the operation was launched around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 22 October 2025, after gunshots were heard in the area. A soldier on official duty quickly alerted the Laminkoto Military Base, prompting a rapid deployment team led by Major Malick Boye.

Upon reaching the scene, the soldiers apprehended Musa Njie, a native of Totten village, found in possession of a locally made firearm and a quantity of suspected cannabis sativa. The robbers, the statement disclosed, targeted Alagie Kawsu Kebba Jaiteh, a local businessman who was violently assaulted during the attack. Preliminary reports indicated that Mr. Jaiteh sustained two broken teeth as the assailants made away with his safe.

According to the military, the suspect has been handed over to the Kuntaur Police Station for further investigation and prosecution. The GAF further noted ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover the stolen items.
