Anti- Crime Unit in Barra intercepts 73 suspected Irregular Migrants

 

The Anti-Crime Unit Sub-Base in Barra conducted an intelligence-led operation in Essau-Sami, resulting in the interception of seventy-three (73) individuals suspected to be preparing for an irregular migration journey.

The operation, led by Inspector RSM Corr, followed credible intelligence on the group’s activities. Preliminary screening indicates that those intercepted include nationals from The Gambia and other West African countries.

All individuals are currently undergoing verification at Essau Model Police Station and will be handed over to the Gambia Immigration Department for further action.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend suspected facilitators.

The Gambia Police Force remains committed to disrupting irregular migration networks and safeguarding lives through coordinated, intelligence-led operations.
