Bafuloto – Mandinaring Road
The concerned residents and commuters of this community asserted that quality road infrastructure provides flexibility and mobility of the workforce from one location to another and also gives credence to good governance and public welfare.
In a random interview with this medium, they stated that a good road network in any community gives citizens a sense of belonging, and a better lifestyle, lowers production costs, and raises productivity, especially, in the agricultural sector where transportation of crops and other commodities to consumers is a major factor in the production chain.
“But in the reverse, the age-long predicament of the deplorable road spanning through Bafuloto in Brikama North District to Mandinaring in Busumbala District calls for an urgent intervention from the Gambia Government.” Mr James Mendy pointed out.
Mrs Kaddy Gibba, a business woman complained that previous governments in the Gambia had provided good roads in most parts of the Gambia but their roads were neglected.
” It is the responsibility of any government to give its citizens the basic amenities including, a good road network to improve their well-being.”
“Socio-economic activities in these parts of the West Coast Region have suffered major setbacks in recent times because of the prevailing condition of the road linking to markets in Brikama and Lamin.” She said.
Ndey Jobe, a market gardener who often transports her goods to Lamin via Mandinaring revealed that the road urgently needs repair hence it’s causing serious barriers to trade and transportation.
Commuters pointed out that the road requires attention as it poses a major security threat and danger to the community noting that criminals may turn the community into their hideout since there is no quality road for security checks.
The New Global Media was on the spot this morning for an assessment of the road and can authoritatively report that the road is in a deplorable state and has caused untold hardship to the people.
