The West Africa Democracy Solidarity Network (WADEMOS) today held a day term limits advocacy engagement with journalists and civil society organizations in the Gambia.
The forum which was held at the Senegambia Beach Hotel was an interactive session where various speakers emphasized on the need for presidential term limits in the Gambia and the West Africa Sub-region as a whole.
Mr Paul Osel- Kuffour ,the Network Coordinator WADEMOS spoke at length on the significance of term limits in West Africa noting that it’s a fundamental pillar of democracy.
For his part,the Project Coordinator of WADEMOS Marie -Josiane Ngah made a presentation on their project intervention on term limits which includes transnational civic solidarity and collective action in defense of democracy in West Africa.
Lawyer Dr Salieu Taal, Chairman of Gambia Participates made a presentation on Citizens’ contributions to term limits and Democratic reforms in the Gambia.
Sait Matty Jaw the Executive Director of Centre for Research and Policy development also spoke on the need for advocacy on term limits especially in the Gambia.
The forum which was chaired by Muhammed MS Bah is part of WADEMOS engagement with civic actors and policymakers in the Gambia at this critical time.
