The Vice President of The Gambia, H.E Mohammed BS. Jallow has launched the “Scaling up Locally-led Adaptation and Transforming Humanitarian Responses to Climate Change” project, a major initiative by The Gambia Red Cross Society aimed at tackling the country’s environmental challenges.
During the launching ceremony, VP Jallow highlighted The Gambia’s commitment to reducing emissions by 45.4% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions in the electricity sector by 2050. He emphasized the project’s alignment with the Recovery-Focused National Development Plan (2023-2027), which focuses on building resilience and promoting sustainable environmental management.
He praised partnerships with The Gambia Red Cross Society and urged all Gambians to take collective action to create a resilient and sustainable future.
The launch was attended by key officials, diplomats, and international representatives who stressed the importance of collaboration in addressing climate change.
