Promising Start to Crop Season in Central River Region, Gambia

The new Global Media recently visited several farms to assess the start of this year’s crop season in the Gambia’s rainy season. The outlook appears promising, with many farmers expressing optimism about the coming months.

Ebrima Jallow, a farmer from Nanaba in the Central River Region, shared his high expectations for this year’s rainy season. “The expectations for this year’s rainy season are very high because farmers received their fertilizer from the government on time, which will enhance a good yield in this year’s crop season,” he stated. Jallow emphasized the importance of continued government support for farmers to ensure food sustainability in the Gambia.

Yankuba Mbye, another farmer in the region, echoed Jallow’s sentiments. He expressed hope and anticipation for consistent rainfall, saying, “We are praying for the rainfall to come so as to have good produce at the end of the season.” Mbye, like Jallow, is optimistic that this year’s rainy season will be very beneficial for their crops.

With the timely provision of fertilizers and favorable weather conditions, farmers in the Central River Region are hopeful for a fruitful harvest this year. The government’s support plays a crucial role in this optimistic outlook, reinforcing the need for ongoing assistance to promote agricultural success and food security in the Gambia.
