The police Anti-Crime Unit briefed journalists this afternoon on a series of coordinated armed robberies at Brufut Heights. Commissioner Momodou Sowe provided details of the crimes, the charges faced by the perpetrators, and the weapons seized from them. Commissioner Sowe explained that on July 25th, 2024, the patrol team encountered an armed robbery at Brufut Heights. They were alerted around 3 to 4 am and managed to arrest one of the robbers, who was later identified as his accomplice during the investigation. On July 26th, the other robbers were apprehended at an apartment in Bijilo. The arrested individuals are Ebrima Bah (alias Q), an 18-year-old student and resident of Brufut; Assan Sowe (alias Sessco), a 22-year-old electrician and resident of Sanchaba; Sheriff Dibba (alias C’ Boy), a 23-year-old fisherman and resident of Tanji; Muhammed Sowe (alias Desseh), a 20-year-old plumber and resident of Abuko; as well as Ousman Ceesay (alias OC). During the arrests, 3 cutlasses used on their victims were recovered, and it was noted that the robbers had conducted criminal activities in Sanchaba, affecting 4 different compounds between July 4th and July 24th. Properties such as mobile phones and televisions were stolen during these incidents, and plumbing machines were also recovered, but the owner has not yet been determined. Commissioner Sowe emphasized that the arrested individuals are notorious criminals, some of whom are already standing trial in court, with Ousman Ceesay (alias OC) being one who broke out of Mile 2 Prison. The individuals face 5 charges and will appear in court once the investigation is complete. Commissioner Sowe urged the public to provide information to support timely responses and thanked the Inspector General of Police for his assistance.
