Kanifing Municipal Council Gears Up for Rainy Season with Gutter Cleaning Initiative

As the rainy season begins, the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has launched an initiative to clean the gutters, aiming to ensure the easy passage of water and prevent flooding. This proactive measure is critical in maintaining a safe and clean environment for the residents of Kanifing.

Amadou Bah, a local shopkeeper, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “It is very important to clear the gutters before the rain begins to help avoid blockages of running water, which can cause serious damage to our compounds. People should stop dumping rubbish in the gutters to help us maintain a clean environment,” he stated.

Echoing Bah’s sentiments, Lamin Dampha, a driver, highlighted the significance of a clean environment for public health. “Having a clean environment is essential for a healthy nation. I thank the council for their hard work,” Dampha said.

Residents have expressed their gratitude and support for Talib Bensouda, the mayor of KMC, praising his leadership and the numerous completed and ongoing projects under his administration. According to Dampha, “Mayor Bensouda is doing wonders, and the residents of KMC are happy with the number of projects that have been completed and are currently ongoing.”

The collective effort to maintain clean gutters not only helps prevent flooding but also promotes a healthier and more sustainable community. The KMC’s dedication to these projects demonstrates their commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents.
