Turkish Routine Donation: D13 Million Worth of Items Presented to GPF

Today, a donation of police gear estimated at 13 million Dalasis was given to The Gambia Police Force at a ceremony held at the PIU Headquarters in Kanifing. The donation, which included uniforms, combat boots, ballistic vests, helmets, and other essential gear, was presented by the Turkish Ambassador, His Excellency Turker Oba, and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior Abraham Mendy, along with various police commissioners and leaders from other security services.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Seedy Mukhtar Touray expressed gratitude for the donation and highlighted the multifaceted support from Turkey, including capacity building, training programs, and educational opportunities. The IGP also outlined plans to construct a state-of-the-art police academy with Turkish support to enhance the operational capabilities of the Gambia Police Force.

Assistant Inspector General Administration (AIG) Ebrima Bah also conveyed his appreciation for the ongoing support from the Turkish police and emphasized the instrumental role of the donated equipment in enhancing police effectiveness.

Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abraham Mendy emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the partnership between The Gambia and Turkey.

H. E Ambassador Turker Oba provided insights into the comprehensive training and support initiatives offered by the Turkish government, affirming their continued commitment to assist the Gambia Police Force.
