The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment (MoTIE) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with three training institutions to deliver digital labour skills training under the Western Africa Regional Digital Integration Program (WARDIP).
The agreements were signed with the University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET), Civil Service University (CSU), and the Indian Institute of Hardware Technology Gambia (IIHTG).
Speaking at the ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of MoTIE Lamin Camara, commended WARDIP for its support and the institutions for partnering with the Ministry to strengthen digital skills development in The Gambia.
He said the programme, which will run for three years, aims to equip thousands of Gambians, particularly youth, women and persons with disabilities, with intermediate and advanced digital skills to enhance employability and create new career opportunities.
The Permanent Secretary assured that MoTIE will work closely with WARDIP and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the programme.
He described the partnership as an important step towards building a digitally skilled and inclusive workforce and advancing The Gambia’s digital transformation agenda.
