The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) deeply regrets to announce that on Sunday, September 13, 2026, a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) occurred involving members of the State Guards Battalion. The soldiers were on a mission to escort Lady Sarjo Mballow Barrow when their rear escort vehicle was involved in an accident near Kiang Kolior, Lower River Region. The incident took place during heavy rainfall in the area.
Tragically, Lance Corporal Bah Omar lost his life in the accident, while one soldier remains in critical condition. The other two soldiers who were in the vehicle are currently stable and receiving medical treatment.
Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the family of Lance Corporal Bah Omar during this difficult time. The GAF High Command prays that the deceased rests in eternal peace. We also hope for a swift recovery for the injured soldiers.
