A quick word on tonight’s order of play. Heavyweight prospect Da’Mazion Vanhouter has just stopped Raphael Akpejiori in the first round of the second-to-last undercard fight before tonight’s main event. The 21-year-old appeared to injure his left shoulder during an awkward tangle in which his arm was caught, leaving him in obvious discomfort. Somehow he fought on … and only seconds later flattened Akpejiori for the stoppage.
Next up is Jai Opetaia against Noel Mikaelian in a cruiserweight fight that nearly became a legal battle before either man stepped into the ring. Don King, the 95-year-old promoter who has Mikaelian under contract, filed a cease-and-desist in an attempt to block the bout, accusing Zuffa of interfering with his promotional agreement.
