New Yundum Academy Senior Secondary School has celebrated the hard work and achievements of its students at a prize-giving and speech ceremony held at the school.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Principal of the school, Siyaka B. Jaiteh, said the occasion was not merely a gathering, but a reflection and celebration of the students’ journey and their shared commitment to education.
He said the ceremony provided an opportunity to celebrate the students’ hard work, discipline and achievements. Jaiteh also urged parents to take Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings seriously and regularly check on their children’s academic performance.
He thanked the teachers for their tremendous work and dedication in supporting the students throughout their education.
The outgoing Head Girl moladu sidibeh, also reflected on the challenges the students faced during their time at the school. She said every generation of students faces challenges, but each generation also makes progress.
She said the students went through physical challenges and sleepless nights before reaching the prize-giving and speech ceremony.
“We may face challenges and obstacles along the way, but that should not stop us from going,” she said.
She encouraged the incoming school councillors to remain obedient, respect their teachers and always uphold the good name of the school.
Meanwhile, a representative from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Amie Nyang, congratulated the outgoing students and urged them to choose fields of study that match their interests and goals.
Nyang encouraged the students to build meaningful friendships and seek guidance from their lecturers, teachers and mentors as they continue their education.
She emphasized that university education is not only about obtaining a degree, but also about gaining knowledge and developing skills. She urged the students to approach their studies with determination and purpose as they prepare for the next stage of their lives.
