Heavy Rains Test Banjul’s Drainage System; Residents Urged to Dispose of Waste Responsibly
Following the heavy rainfall experienced in Banjul last evening, some areas witnessed temporary flash flooding. However, the city’s drainage system functioned effectively, allowing floodwaters to recede within a short period.
During a visit to affected locations, the Governor of Banjul, Hon. Ebrima Jawo, observed significant amounts of plastic waste and litter around drainage canals. Such waste obstructs the free flow of water and increases the risk of flooding during heavy rains.
The Office of the Executive Coordinator, Banjul, calls on all residents, businesses and visitors to play their part in keeping the city clean by disposing of waste responsibly and avoiding littering. A cleaner Banjul is a safer and more resilient Banjul for everyone.
