As Brand Ambassador of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG), I, Mamour M. Mbenga, popularly known as “Kifa Barham,” paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Ebrima Jawo, Executive Coordinator for Banjul, on Thursday, July 30th.
The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships to combat drug-related crimes and enhance social development in the capital city.
I emphasized that drugs cannot be combated in isolation—it is a concern that requires collective effort from all stakeholders.
As the exercise for change continues, my role remains centered on providing counseling and expert guidance to affected communities.
I reiterated the need to initiate skills training programs that will help reformed addicts reintegrate into society through education and vocational opportunities.
“We must unite to mitigate drug abuse and reduce crimes, especially in Banjul,” I stated.
As a youth role model with over a decade of advocacy, I have championed a drug-free society through awareness campaigns and scholarship opportunities for underserved youth.
This visit was an opportunity to explore how these initiatives can be expanded with the support of the Banjul Executive Office.
I extend my sincere appreciation to Hon. Jawo for his kind hospitality and genuine interest in the cause.
He reaffirmed his office’s commitment to youth and women empowerment, noting significant progress in educational scholarships within the region.
Both parties agreed to strengthen collaboration with other stakeholders to advance the government’s national development agenda. We look forward to a productive partnership that will create lasting change for the youth of Banjul and beyond.
