GRA delegation returns following a successful Tax Seminar in China

A successful six-member team from the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has returned home after attending a two-week international tax seminar in Beijing, China. Their exceptional performance earned them recognition as one of the most distinguished delegations at the event.
Led by Ousman Bah, the Head of Corporate and Public Affairs, the delegation also included Dr. Abou Khan, Baboucarr Njie, Baboucarr Sagnia, Salimatou Jeng, and Ebrima Sanneh. The seminar, organized by China’s Ministry of Commerce through the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), brought together tax administrators and senior officials from Belt and Road partner countries to exchange global best practices and strengthen cooperation.
The focus of the seminar was to learn about modernizing tax services, enhancing compliance, and improving the taxpayer experience. The Gambian team also had the opportunity to visit Shenyang, where they studied the Chinese approach to industrial modernization, digital governance, and public sector innovation.
One of the highlights of the seminar was the team’s visit to BRITACOM, where they were able to witness China’s highly efficient tax ecosystem. This included automation, integrated taxpayer databases, and advanced analytics to bolster risk management and streamline services.
The Gambian delegation stood out for their active participation and exceptional performance. As a symbol of respect, Mr. Bah was chosen to deliver the vote of thanks on behalf of all participating countries during the closing ceremony.
Officials say that the knowledge gained from this seminar will directly support GRA’s digital transformation agenda, reaffirming their commitment to a modern, transparent, and customer-oriented revenue administration. The exposure to China’s successful model of industrial growth and public-private collaboration also provides valuable insights for policy development in The Gambia’s national development agenda.
