The Honorable Speaker Fabakary Tombong Jatta today received a high-level delegation comprising the Paramount Chief and the National Council of Seyfolus accompanied by the Governor of Lower River Region Mr. Seedy Lamin Bah.
The delegations visit led by the Paramount Chief of The Gambia Chief Alhagie Yahya JarjuSey aims to formally introduce the Council of Seyfolus and to discuss matters of local governance and areas of partnership with the National Assembly.
During the meeting, the Hon. Speaker welcomed the delegation and underscored the role of traditional leaders in maintaining peace and stability at the grassroots level. He noted that the National Assembly values the wisdom and experience of the traditional institutions, highlighting their position as the closest link between the government and the rural populace.
The discussions also focused on matters related to the preservation of cultural heritage and the challenges encountered in completing their task.
