MoBSE, Health Ministry Partner on Data Integration

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health to link the Education Management Information System (EMIS) with the Health Management Information System (HMIS).

The agreement establishes secure data‑sharing to coordinate school‑based health programs, including screenings, deworming, immunizations, nutrition, and WASH campaigns.

Officials say the initiative supports President Adama Barrow’s National Development Plan “Yiriwaa,” which prioritizes health and education as drivers of socio‑economic progress.

By combining health records such as birth registration and immunizations with education data on enrollment and attendance, the ministries aim to identify vulnerable children, improve planning, and strengthen interventions.

The partnership is expected to boost the “Road to Zero Out‑of‑School Children” initiative, with birth records helping verify school enrollment. A joint technical working group will oversee implementation.
