MODOU SARR
The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in the Gambia Maulana Baba F. Trawally has urged moslems to reject hat redness, extremism and injustice and instead promote tolerance, dialogue and mutual respect and understanding among ourselves. The supreme head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has repeatedly said ‘ True peace can only be established when mankind recognizes it’s Creator and fulfils the rights of one another with justice and compassion. He further stated that if we desire peace in the world, then we must first established peace in our hearts, homes and societies. This guiding words remind us that peace is not merely a concept but a responsibility that begins with each one of us.
The world today, Amir went on, is experiencing a very unprecedented period. Unrest, conflict and division among nations is plaguing the world at its knees. Peace remains fragile. It is therefore, to become ambassadors of peace within our homes, communities, nations and the wilder world. Islam, he continued is a religion of peace and we as moslems must try by all means possible to upholding that beliefs..
Amir Trawally’s message came at the end of a month long fasting which culminates with the observing of Eid – ul Fitr or commonly called Koriteh. He added that Allah has commanded us to observe fasting as it was prescribed for those before us so that we may become righteous. Ramadan is not only about abstaining from food and drinks at a fixed period but rather it is a divine training for attaining righteousness and to have fear of Allah. It instills discipline, humility, patience and a deep consciousness of our Creator.
As we emerge from this blessed month, the true test lies in how we carry forward this virtues in our daily lives. Let us therefore not allow the spirit of Ramadan to fade out with the passing of the month rather we must remain steadfast in our prayers, in the recitation of the Holy Quran and in upholding truthfulness, kindness and compassion.,, he concluded.
