The operations, conducted between February 19 and March 8, 2026, resulted in the apprehension of dozens of suspects found with substances including suspected cannabis sativa, kush, crack cocaine, ecstasy pills, and cannabis resin (hashish). According to the agency, the suspects were arrested at various locations as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse.
Among those arrested were 29-year-old Mariama Sowe and 23-year-old Dembo Mbye, both residents of Darsilameh, who were apprehended on March 5 with 27 bundles of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in brown paper and empty rice bags.
In a separate operation on recently ,39-year-old Basiru Njie of London Corner was arrested with 27 stones of suspected crack cocaine hidden in plastic bags. Other suspects were also arrested with significant quantities of cannabis and kush in different parts of the country.
The arrests involving larger drug consignments, including 3,830 ecstasy pills allegedly found in the possession of 35-year-old Edrissa Njie of Sukuta on February 24. Another suspect, Haruna Tamba, 36, from New Yundum, was arrested on March 8 with five bundles and 128 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in cement paper and stored in an empty rice bag. Authorities also arrested individuals in possession of cannabis resin, commonly known as hashish, and cannabis ruderalis (skunk).
