Malian fans have taken to social media to criticise head coach Tom Saintfiet following Mali’s exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Eagles were knocked out in the quarter-finals after a 1–0 defeat to Senegal, bringing an end to what many supporters have described as a disappointing campaign.
Mali failed to win a single match at the tournament, prompting widespread frustration over the team’s cautious and defensive style of play.
Supporters have accused Saintfiet of poor tactics and lack of attacking ambition, with some calling for his dismissal.
Many fans said the team’s performances fell short of expectations, describing the AFCON campaign as damaging to the country’s football reputation.
Saintfiet, who previously coached The Gambia, is best known locally for leading the Scorpions to their historic AFCON debut and quarter-final finish in 2021.
