The Gambia’s signature celebration of poultry and culinary creativity returns this weekend as the 3rd Annual Chicken Festival takes place on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at Hypolink on the Bertil Harding Highway in Kotu. The event runs from 12 midday until 12 midnight, transforming the venue into a vibrant showcase of culture, cuisine, and community.
What distinguishes this year’s edition is the remarkable range of international flavours. Fifteen restaurants from across the country will present their best chicken dishes, offering festival goers a global tasting experience without leaving Hypolink.
Visitors can look forward to Gambian home style cooking from Fatima Sweet Cake and Jah’s, Nigerian favourites from Kingsway, African Caribbean blends from Tally’s, Lebanese and African fusion from Jay’s, innovative African gastronomy from Spice Hub, American comfort food from Plasta Inc, sandwiches and bowls from Grubway, and clay oven pizza from SaiMar.
The lineup also includes versatile plates from Amina’s and Best of Gastronomie. Akara Factory will showcase their famous chicken pancake drops, while Chef’s Corner brings proudly local grilled flavours. Together, the restaurants form the most diverse selection the festival has hosted since its inception.
Leading the culinary excitement is celebrated chef and culinary ambassador Chef Saikou Bojang, who will headline the event under the banner Chef Bojang and Friends. Speaking ahead of the festival, Chef Bojang noted that this year raises the bar both in quality and creativity. He remarked, “This festival has become a platform for chefs to express their creativity with chicken. With so many cultures represented this year, people will experience dishes they have never tasted before.”
Beyond the food, the festival remains committed to its family friendly roots. Attendees can expect a day filled with music, entertainment, bouncing castles, gaming stations for teens, and a swimming pool suitable for families seeking a relaxed atmosphere. The organisers have kept the event affordable with an entry fee of 100 dalasis, while children under 12 accompanying an adult enter free.
The festival is powered by three major partners who continue to support the growth of poultry consumption and the hospitality industry in The Gambia. They are The United States Poultry and Egg Export Council, Gamfood Trading, and The South Dakota Soybean Checkoff. Their collaboration reinforces a shared commitment to providing the Gambian market with safe, healthy, high quality American poultry.
As anticipation builds, thousands of Gambians are expected to attend what has quickly become a cornerstone event in the country’s food calendar. With its dynamic mix of international cuisine, community atmosphere, and family entertainment, the 3rd Chicken Festival promises to be the most memorable edition yet.
