Gaye Njorro Skills Academy, in collaboration with Afro Hair Science have organised the “Textures Intercultural Exchange 2025” event last Monday at its Kotu centre in Gambia as a platform to strengthen the existing work relationship between Gambia and Senegal. The importance of vocational education, women’s empowerment, and health awareness was emphasised.
Dr. Jainaba Jallow, of Tanka-Tanka Hospital, who attended the event, also subscribed to the significance of women’s empowerment. “Empowerment is beyond acquiring finances and skills, but it is also about giving girls the confidence to dream and the belief that they can achieve whatever they are aspiring to do”, she maintained.
Aunty Fatou Gaye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gaye Njorro Skills Academy, re-echoed the pivotal role of vocational training in making women self-reliant. “With the acquisition of skills, women can contribute meaningfully to society and break free from dependence”, she insisted.
Discussions also captured the combination of advanced cosmetology education in women empowerment strategies, intercultural knowledge exchange, and health advocacy, and breast cancer as a health concern among women and the public in Gambia, but health experts present shed light on the causes and effects, symptoms, and preventive measures.
