Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of Banjul High Court, Tuesday, 28th October, 2025, acknowledged receiving the medical report of Abdoulie Sanyang, ex-military officer, from Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital.
Testifying before the Banjul High Court, Mustapha Bittaye, the Chief Medical Director of Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH), told the court that after examining the accused, Sanyang, he was suffering from a spinal condition, rectal bleeding, and a psychiatric condition.
EFSTH Medical Director Bittaye told the court that the condition of Mile II Remand Wing was unfavorable for the accused, adding that if the accused, Sanyang, remained at Mile II Remand Wing, his health condition might get worse.
However, when pressed by state prosecutor Saikou Lamin Jobarteh regarding how the accused had such health conditions, EFSTH Medical Director stated that Sanyang’s rectal bleeding started eleven years ago.
When the court asked Dr. Bittaye to ascertain whether the same operation Sanyang had in Switzerland could be carried out at EFSTH, he responded affirmatively.
It would be recalled that the ex-military officer Sanyang is standing trial for arson and interference with judicial proceedings of the case of Ousainou Bonjang, a man accused of shooting to death two police officers and leaving the third injured.
