The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has successfully trained 70 personnel to serve as volunteers in football medical emergencies, a move aimed at strengthening player safety across the nation’s football landscape.
The three-day intensive training concluded on Sunday under the Federation’s initiative to enhance emergency care and preparedness within the sport. Participants received practical skills and knowledge essential to responding effectively to injuries on and off the field.
Bakary K. Jammeh, GFF’s First Vice President, highlighted the importance of the initiative for sports development. “These are gallant men and women, volunteers who act to prevent injury and save lives. Their commitment is the bedrock of player safety in our sport,” he said.
Jammeh also reassured participants that the Federation remains committed to developing a fully equipped medical department, further strengthening its capacity to protect players during competitions and training.
Musa Colley, Chairperson of the GFF Medical Sub-Committee, added that the training is a key step in enhancing the knowledge and efficiency of the medical team in handling injured players.
