Lamin Janneh of Gunjur, Monday, appeared before Magistrate K.B. Sambou of Brikama Magistrates’ Court on two counts of criminal trespass and threatening violence.
Cadet Inspector A. Kanyi stood in for the Inspector General of Police, while the accused, Janneh, was unrepresented.
For the first count, Janneh was charged with criminal trespass contrary to Section 262 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025. The prosecution alleged that in September 2025, at Jambanjelly in the West Coast Region, Janneh unlawfully entered the compound of one Cherno Bayo with the intent to intimidate, insult, or annoy him.
On the second count, Janneh was accused of threatening violence contrary to Section 77 of the same Act. The particulars stated that during the same period and at the same location, Janneh allegedly threatened to kill Cherno Bayo.
When the charges were read and explained to him, Janneh pleaded not guilty to both counts.
Inspector Kanyi applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution to call its first witness (PW1) and did not object to the accused being granted bail.
Magistrate Sambou granted the application and released the accused on bail in the sum of D50,000 with one Gambian surety. The case was adjourned to 17th November 2025 for the hearing of the first prosecution witness.
