By: Kemo Kanyi  and Isatou Sarr

The National Democratic Party (NDP), led by Kebba Madi Bojang, has announced that it has officially submitted its application for registration as a political party to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in accordance with The Gambia’s Electoral Laws.

The announcement was made in a press statement on Tuesday, saying: “As per the guidelines outlined by the IEC, NDP has fulfilled the key requirements to submit a written Constitution outlining its aims, objectives, structure, and governance, provided the names, addresses and signatures of registered members, from each of the seven administrative regions, and established functional regional offices in all administrative areas.”

The NDP also added that it has paid the required registration fee, presented details of the party emblem, colour, and motto – all in line with national values and IEC standards, and committed to conducting annual financial audits and maintaining a national character free of ethnic, tribal, or religious bias.

“This marks a major milestone for the NDP as we continue to build a platform focused on people-centred leadership, integrity, and national development,” the party said.

The NDP reaffirms that it remains confident that the IEC will give this application due consideration in accordance with the laws of the land.
