Daru United delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday, defeating Power Station FC 3-1 at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium, in a crucial Group stage clash of the BSC Nawettan.
The win was vital for Daru United, who had suffered a loss and a draw in their opening matches and needed all three points to keep their hopes of progressing to the next phase alive.
Modou Badjie opened the scoring for Daru United in the 18th minute, before Famara Jarju doubled the lead in the first half. Lamin Camara added a third goal shortly after the second half began, putting the contest beyond Power Station’s reach. Babucarr Jarju managed a late consolation for Power Station FC, but it was not enough to turn the tide.
Elsewhere, Dreamers FC of Jalambang played out a goalless draw against Sanchaba Youths in another tense encounter at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium.
In the group standings, Daru United now leads with four points from three matches, closely followed by [team name not provided], also on four points but with a game in hand. Sanchaba United sit third with two points from two games, Dreamers FC are fourth with two points from two matches, while Power Station FC remain at the bottom with two points from three matches.
Daru United’s emphatic win puts them in a strong position to challenge for qualification as the Nawettan intensifies.
