Police operatives in Akwa Ibom have arrested two suspects over the alleged vandalisation of a transformer at Ikot Imoh village in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Uyo.
John said the operatives apprehended the suspects at 5:45 a.m. on Thursday.
She said the arrest followed a report of suspicious activity around the transformer installation in the village.
“Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered a group of individuals attempting to tamper with the transformer.
“Two suspects were apprehended, and other members of the gang fled the scene upon sighting the police,” John said.
“Items recovered at the scene include: two 17-combination flat spanners, one hose pipe, one large heavy-duty cutter, and one pipe wrench with socket,” the spokesperson added.
