Charles Jow Memorial Academy came alive with a vibrant explosion of color, rhythm, and pride as students celebrated Cultural Day! From dazzling traditional attire to mesmerizing performances, the event was a breathtaking showcase of The Gambia’s rich cultural tapestry.
Students arrived at school transformed, draped in the stunning fabrics of their heritage. Mandinka boubous, Fula mélaffes (traditional robes), Jola beadwork, and Wolof kaftans turned the campus into a living mosaic. Each outfit told a story, woven with history and identity.
The school buzzed with energy! Young griots sang ancient folktales, drummers brought the heartbeat of the djembe and dundun to life, and dancers spun in graceful homage to ancestral traditions. From the pulsating rhythms of the Wolof sabar drum to the soulful melodies of the Mandinka kora, talent shone in every performance.
Parents, teachers, and guests left inspired, their hearts full of hope for a generation that carries its heritage forward with joy and respect.
The occasion was graced by KMC Councillors and the Director of Administration, who deputized for the Mayor. Many parents and guardians were in attendance, adding to the communal spirit of the day.
