Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has owed to instill national stability, declaring that if given the mandate in 2027, he will bring order and direction to Nigeria within two years.
Speaking during a live session on X Spaces Sunday night, Obi urged Nigerian leaders to stop governing from a distance and take responsibility for the challenges at home. “I will bring stability in Nigeria within two years. Leaders of Nigeria should sit down in Nigeria and fix Nigeria,” he asserted.
His remarks come amid increasing concern over the nation’s deteriorating security situation, rising poverty, and growing disconnect between political elites and the realities of everyday Nigerians.

Obi, a former Anambra State governor known for his frugal governance style, said his administration would focus on immediate and measurable action.
“Nigeria is at war with poverty, insecurity, and hopelessness. We need leaders who are present, who understand the urgency, and who are willing to roll up their sleeves and work from within, not from the comfort of foreign trips,” he said, in a veiled criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s reported overseas visit to St. Lucia.
Obi emphasised that his vision of leadership is one of accountability, presence, and courage. “You cannot govern a nation like Nigeria through press releases or from private jets. We must be on the ground, see what the people see, feel what they feel, and act fast.”
He added that the crisis of governance in Nigeria is not due to a lack of resources but a lack of will and direction. “Stability comes when people feel safe, heard, and hopeful. It comes when the government listens, acts decisively, and leads by example.”
Promising a leadership style grounded in transparency and results, Obi concluded: “Within two years, Nigerians will feel the change, not from slogans, but from their lived experiences. That is the kind of leadership I am offering. And it begins with staying home to fix home.”
