Dozens of Physics and Chemistry teachers from senior secondary schools across the country recently concluded an intensive three-day hands-on capacity-building workshop focused on providing teachers with invaluable practical experience and pedagogical strategies geared towards effectively guiding their students in tackling the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Practical and Theory questions in Physics and Chemistry.
The initiative was jointly organized by the Rotary Centennial Science Laboratory Centre and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, underscoring their shared commitment to improving the teaching and learning of science in The Gambia.
The workshop, held at the Rotary Centennial Science Laboratory Centre in Kanifing, brought together seasoned educators and subject matter experts; led interactive sessions, demonstrating effective techniques for conducting experiments, interpreting results, and elucidating complex theoretical concepts in a manner that resonates with students preparing for the crucial WASSCE examinations.
This collaborative initiative between the Rotary Centennial Science Laboratory Centre and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality of science education in The Gambia and equipping students with the necessary skills to excel in their academic pursuits.
It is anticipated that this capacity-building effort will contribute positively to the overall performance of Gambian students in the upcoming WASSCE examinations.
