Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of Banjul High Court Monday, issued an order, summoning the proprietor of West Coast Radio to produce an audio interview of former military officer, Abdoulie Sanyang.
Appearing before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of Banjul High Court, the state prosecuting lawyer, Saikou Lamin Jobarteh, sought from the court to summon the proprietor of West Coast Radio, Peter Gomez.
State prosecutor Jobarteh argued that the proprietor of West Coast Radio should either appear in court or send a representative to produce the audio-recorded interview of ex-military officer Sanyang.
The presiding Judge, after hearing an unopposed submission of the state prosecution, granted the order without any delay.
Meanwhile, in his testimony, the fourth prosecution witness, ASP Paul AF. Sambou said that he downloaded the unedited footage of the interview of Abdoulie Sanyang from the official online page of West Coast Radio.
But when pressed by defense lawyer Fatoumatta Bobdi, Pw4, claimed that he was not at the West Coast Radio Studio at the time of the said interview between the accused and Peter Gomez.
Mr. Sambou revealed that anyone can download the said footage from the official website of West Coast Radio via YouTube.
Another prosecution witness (Pw6), Alpha Touray, General Duty Officer attached to Tujereng Police Station, told the court how the APRC bureau headquarters at Kanifing was burnt down on 14 August 2016.
Mr. Touray affirmed that he was at the APRC bureau headquarters at Kanifing, noting that four men invaded the premises, overpowered him, and threatened to kill him if he tried to escape from the crime scene.
He said that the men who invaded the APRC Bureau in Kanifing wore face masks and were carrying guns.
Asked by state prosecutor Saikou Lamin Jobarteh to ascertain the sponsors of the said incident, but defense lawyer Lamin J. Darboe objected to that. Mr. Darboe argued that the prosecution was leading the witness in his evidence.
At that point, Justice Jaiteh sustained the objection of the defense and ordered the prosecution to refrain from leading the witness in his testimony.
Then, Touray went on to reveal that after the incident, Yankuba Colley, the former Kanifing Municipality Mayor, together with Yankuba Sonko, the former Inspector General of Police, visited the crime scene.
He went on to say that all the staff of the APRC bureau were arrested and taken to the National Intelligence Headquarters at Banjul for questioning.
At the peak of Touray’s testimony, when defense lawyer Darboe affirmed that he did not intend to conduct cross-examination, the court then decided to adjourn the matter.
It could be recalled that Abdoulie Sanyang was facing charges of arson and interference with judicial proceedings about the PIU shooting case involving Ousainou Bojang and Amie Bojang.
