It was a tragic end for two notorious Fulani bandit leaders, Kacalla Maijikka and Me Dada, as they were killed by local vigilante members who stormed their hideouts in Garagi village of Mayanchi district in Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, on Thursday.
In the attack, Me Dada who had carved a niche for himself by periodically posting videos of himself on social media with wads of currencies he had extorted as ransom for kidnapped victims, was beheaded in the process.
A detailed report of the incident by #Hausaactivist stated that the two bandit kingpins who had been terrorizing the state and its environs, were the most feared terrorists in the state.
The report reads thus:
“In a powerful and coordinated strike against banditry, brave Hausa vigilantes have eliminated two of the most feared Fulani bandit kingpins in northern Nigeria, Kacalla Maijikka and Me Dada.
“These victories mark a significant turning point in the fight to reclaim communities from years of terror and oppression.
“Kacalla Maijikka had long plagued northern highways, targeting Hausa civilians with unimaginable cruelty. Witnesses recount how he would stop vehicles, release Fulani passengers with gifts and transport money, but abduct or kill Hausa passengers on the spot.
“He extorted ransoms from the families of his victims only to kill the hostages even after receiving the full payment. His reign of terror was defined by betrayal, hatred, and bloodshed.
“Justice has now caught up with him. Vigilante sources confirmed he was neutralized in a precision raid after extensive intelligence gathering and surveillance.
“But that’s not all. In a separate but equally courageous operation, local community-backed vigilantes in Garagi village, Mayanchi district of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, successfully engaged and killed another ruthless bandit leader known as Me Dada during a fierce shootout earlier today.
“The vigilantes not only neutralized Me Dada, they beheaded him, sending a clear message to others terrorizing innocent civilians.
“A member of the vigilante group declared after the battle:
‘Only God knows the number of lives these devils destroyed. May Allah destroy all oppressors like them, and grant us lasting peace, security, and abundant prosperity. Ameen.’
“This dual victory has sparked hope across the region, with many praising the courage and resolve of the Hausa vigilantes who stood up where formal security forces had failed.”
Security expert in the region, Dan Katsina also confirmed the the incident in a post shared on his X handle on Thursday.
“GOOD NEWS: This afternoon, vigilantes in Garagi village, Maru LGA Zamfara State, have killed notorious bandit “Me Dada” during a clash. He was beheaded after being neutralized,” he wrote.
