The collapse of the national grid on Saturday morning, the third in one week, has been the most trending topic of discussion in the Nigerian social media space, with many Nigerians describing it as a national record of hat-trick.
After experiencing two grid collapses in the space of two days, Nigerians woke up to another day of darkness on Saturday, October 19, as the grid had caved in again, marking the third time in just one week adding to an earlier eight of such grid disturbance this year.
Findings revealed that power generation shut down around 8:16 a.m., following earlier trips on Monday and Tuesday during restoration efforts.
The anger of Nigerians were rekindled following the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu’s admission during the week that the collapse of the national grid was inevitable and will continue until all 36 states install respective power grids.
As at the last count, there have been 11 grid collapses in 2024 alone, bringing to question the competency of the Power Minister, with many social media users calling for his sack while others think he should honourably resign.
