The legal team representing hip-hop star, Sean Puffy Combs, aka Puff Daddy, has formally requested a mistrial over alleged misconduct by the prosecution in his ongoing trial for sexual assault, human trafficking, and other criminal charges.
Now, the embattled music star’s defense team is making a second attempt to have the trial dismissed because the prosecution provided fraudulent testimony.
Combs’ lawyers argued in court records that federal prosecutors acted unethically by failing to reveal important evidence, using media leaks improperly, and making biased pretrial statements, all of which they claimed have compromised the trial’s fairness.
The singer’s defense team claimed in a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian on Saturday that the government purposefully permitted misleading testimony on an alleged September 2016 incident at Cassie Ventura’s apartment, where he allegedly threatened Bryana Bongolan.
In recent months, Combs has been dealing with an increasing number of legal issues.
In 2023 and 2024, the music star was the target of numerous lawsuits alleging major crimes, many of which date back decades, such as sexual misconduct, physical abuse, and human trafficking.
The pressure increased when federal authorities raided his houses in Miami and Los Angeles in early 2024 as part of an ongoing investigation, even though he has denied all of the accusations.
