The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended 130 suspects in connection with serious cybercrime activities, among them 113 foreign nationals—comprising 87 men and 26 women from China and Malaysia.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed that 17 of the arrested individuals are Nigerian citizens. The arrests took place during a raid at a location in the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Federal Capital Territory.
Adejobi reported that the suspects were utilizing advanced computers and technology to engage in criminal operations. He noted, “The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 130 suspects comprising 113 foreign nationals (87 males and 26 females), primarily of Chinese and Malaysian origin, and their 17 Nigerian collaborators (4 males and 13 females) for their alleged involvement in high-level cybercrimes, hacking, and activities that threaten national security.”

The operation, which was executed on Saturday, November 3, 2024, was led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Headquarters, AIG Benneth Igweh, and involved officers from the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 Command and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC).
Adejobi stated that the police are currently analyzing evidence collected from the suspects. “We are investigating the matter and scientifically analysing the exhibits recovered from them. The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of our investigations,” he said. He assured the public that updates regarding the investigations will be provided as they become available.
