People react as Simon Ekpa denies IPOB in court, says ‘I’m just a content creator’

Self-acclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), Simon Ekpa has finally declared that he is not a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ekpa who made the denial when he was arranged in a Finnish court on terror-related charges on Wednesday, refuted claims that he is a member of IPOB and described himself as a content creator who makes videos and other contents for leisure.

While giving his testimony during cross-examination, the founder of IPOB-Auto-Pilot, a breakaway group from the main IPOB, told the court that he has nothing to do with the Nnamdi Kanu-led pro-Biafra group.

Ekpa’s denial of his membership of IPOB has however, caused a buzz on social media as many X users have taken to the platform to mock him for denying the group at a critical opportunity that he should have used to project the image of the group.

An X user with the handle @Chinex, wrote:

“Just finished listening to Simon Ekpa’s court proceedings, and I’m honestly in disbelief. During cross-examination, he completely distanced himself from IPOB, claiming he’s merely a content creator. According to him, everything he’s done was simply ‘acting’, nothing more.”

@JJ Omojuwa also chipped in:
“I understand IPOB Prime Minister Simon Ekpa told the Finnish court prosecuting him that he is not a member of IPOB. That he is a “content creator”.

“Is the Plime Mister denying his republic? He is finished and case never even start. By the way, he is also a content creator. They converted views to cash.”

@Eng. C Peters said:
“Simon Ekpa’s neighbor testified against him, claiming he often heard him say “woto woto promax” during phone calls. Out of curiosity, he did some digging and found it was allegedly a coded phrase Simon used whenever he gave orders to his boys in Alaigbo to go and kill.”

@Ndubless also wrote:
“Guyman thinks he will wriggle his way out of this. Before oyibo bring case, best believe say them don cook am well. Even if he manages to wriggle out, his content creation business is done and dusted,”

@Chαrliε Bεαto MD, another X user wrote:
“When the crowd dey cheer, people claim leadership. When court show, everybody turn “just a bystander.” Humans love credit without consequences.”

@Neto1 said:
“Simon Ekpa was given a once in a lifetime opportunity to present and defend the Biafran ideology he claims to believe in, right in a Finnish court. Instead, he chose the path of cowardice by telling the court that he is merely a social media content creator. He almost denied being Simon Ekpa.

“Yet, some of his followers continue to repeat the same narrative of a so-called “content creator.” These individuals do not represent the Igbo people. They are misinformed and lack clarity. The Igbo people I know are smart, courageous, and intelligent, nothing like what these followers represent.

@Jay_Den111 had this to say:
“Simon Ekpa has been preaching and deceiving his followers that freedom is coming tomorrow, saying that no true freedom fighter escapes jail or death. But at his court hearing, he claimed to be just a content creator, and here I am, wondering why he didn’t boldly admit that he’s fighting for Biafra.”

@Hussling Benjamin wrote:
“His gullible followers lack common sense. A golden opportunity was handed to him on a platter of Gold to present his argument to the Finland government and why his ass# licking mumu and gullible followers need freedom, but guy man chose to use the content creator as an escaping route.”
