Pastor Paul Adefarasin refutes allegations he brandished a gun at TikToker

The Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock Church in Lagos, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has refuted allegations that he brandished a gun at a TikToker at a street in Lagos.

A viral video had made the rounds on social media on Friday showing Pastor Adefarasin holding a metallic object while speaking to a passerby who was recording him, with many suggesting that the object was a gun.

The incident reportedly occurred after the content creator recognised the cleric who rolled down his car window and pointed what looked like a firearm at the TikToker.

Social media users had dragged the man of God with many wondering why a pastor would go about with a gun and threatening people with it.

Social media critics like VeryDarkMan and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju also weighed in on the video and called out the cleric over the trending video and calling for his arrest.

But while debunking the video in a post on his X handle on Sunday morning, Pastor Adefarasin described the claims as a misunderstanding, stating categorically that the object seen in the footage was not a firearm, and that he did not point it at anyone.

Adefarasin acknowledged the concern the video may have sparked and promised to briefly address the issue during the church’s 9:00 a.m. service on Sunday, while urging the public to remain calm and not fall for misinformation or sensationalism surrounding the video clip.

In the post on X, Adefarasin wrote:
“Dear Family, Trusting that this meets you well, winning and on top of the tests of life.

“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm.

“I want to assure you of this — that, that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.

“We understand the concern that this accusation may have caused, and we will speak briefly to this mischief during the 9:00 am service tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
