The National People’s Party (NPP) has announced with deep sorrow the death of Councillor Hamat Ceesay of Kaiaf Ward in Kiang East, Mansakonko Area Council, who tragically lost his life after being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm on Saturday, 8th November 2025, while working on his farm.
In a condolence message, the Party Leader and Secretary General, President Adama Barrow, on behalf of the executive and entire membership of the NPP, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Kaiaf Ward, the Chairman, and Councillors of the Mansakonko Area Council.
“The demise of Councillor Ceesay is not only a profound loss to his family and community but also to the entire NPP family and The Gambia at large,” the statement read.
It described the late Councillor Ceesay as an “astute supporter and dedicated member” of the party who served his people with “distinction, humility, and a passionate sense of duty.”
President Barrow prayed for Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late councillor, grant him eternal rest in Jannah, and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
