NGX: Ikeja Hotel, Beta Glass among top entities as Investors gain N677bn

Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N677 billion at the close of trading on Thursday.

This followed a surge in the share prices of stocks like Ikeja Hotel Plc, Beta Glass Plc and Legend Internet, among others, on the trading floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 117,861.13 points from 116,786.87 points recorded the previous day.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalisation rose to N74.3 trillion from N73.6 trillion posted by the bourse on Wednesday.

The market breadth was positive as 43 stocks advanced, 20 stocks declined, and 85 stocks remained unchanged in 17,257 deals.

Ikeja Hotel Plc, Beta Glass Plc and Legend Internet, led other gainers with 10%, 9.98% and 9.92% growth each in prices to close at N15.40, N276.00 and N7.20 from the previous N14.00, N250.95 and N6.55 per share.

Guinea Insurance, Haldane McCall and C&I Leasing Plc led other price decliners with 9.21%, 5.88% and 5.84% dip in share prices to close at N0.69, N4.00 and N4.35 from the previous N0.76, N4.25 and N4.62 per share.

On the volume index, Champion Breweries led trading with 332 million shares in 109 deals, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding, which traded 62 million shares in 868 deals.

PZ Cussons Nigeria traded 46 million shares in 262 deals.

On the value index, Guaranty Trust Holding (GTCO) traded stocks valued at N5 billion in 868 deals, followed by Champion Breweries, which traded equities worth N2.2 billion in 109 deals.

MTN Nigeria traded shares valued at N2.0 billion in 767 deals.
