The Mayor of Banjul City Council (BCC), Rohey Malick Lowe, has met with Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Princess of Dubai, during the ongoing Asia Pacific Cities Summit in Dubai.
Mayor Lowe praised the Princess for her global dedication to women’s empowerment, describing their interaction as “exceptional.”
“I was profoundly honoured to engage in dialogue with Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Princess of Dubai. Our discussion was marked by her remarkable wisdom and sincere empathy, which left a lasting impression,” Mayor Lowe said.
She noted that the Princess’s commitment to cultural leadership and community development stands as a powerful reminder of the transformative role women play in shaping societies.
“In leaders like Her Highness, we see a shining example of what is possible. Her leadership reinforces our collective belief that when women are empowered to lead, they reach new heights and uplift entire communities and nations,” she added.
The only female mayor in The Gambia, Mayor Lowe said moments like these remind her of the importance of empowering more women to overcome barriers and build a stronger, more inclusive future.
