Libyan police raid kidnappers, rescue abducted Nigerian woman (Video)

The police in Libya have raided a hideout and arrested members of a suspected kidnap gang that allegedly abducted a Nigerian woman and demanded ransom for her release.

According to Migrant Rescue Watch (MRW), the Joint Police Forces, acting on credible intelligence responded to a kidnapping report of the Nigerian woman, carried out a raid on a location in Surman city, Tripolitania region of northwestern Libya on Monday, June 30, 2025 and arrested the gang.

The police also rescued the victim while the suspects have been sent to jail, the MRW said in a post shared on its X handle.

In a post accompanying a video of the raid, the MRW said:

“Joint Police Forces in response to a kidnapping report of a Nigerian woman carried out raid on a location in Sorman and arrested a gang of sub-Saharan #migrants who demanded ransom in exchange for release.

“During police operation the victim was released unharmed and the perpetrators referred to public prosecution for legal action.
