The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Monday described his leadership style as unapologetically firm, particularly when it comes to confronting entrenched interests in the nation’s capital.
The minister spoke at a media chat with journalists in Abuja.
He said: “Most of them didn’t have the courage to annoy people or step on toes. But I take joy in stepping on the toes of so-called big men, those who believe nothing can happen to them. I say, something will happen.”

The former Rivers governor stressed that his administration in the FCT is focused on fairness and rule enforcement, regardless of status.
“People want me to make life harder for the poor and ignore the powerful. But if you do the wrong thing, big or small, there will be consequences. That’s how we are getting results. I don’t care whose ox is gored,” Wike declared.
His comments followed the growing enforcement of ground rent payments in Abuja, part of broader efforts by the FCT Administration to boost internally generated revenue and sanitize land ownership records in the capital.
