The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has dismissed PC 9760 Sanna Mballow following an investigation into an attempted fraudulent withdrawal at the Brikama Police Cooperative Credit Union.

The decision was announced on Friday, 14th November 2025.

According to the investigation, PC Mballow attempted to access another member’s account by impersonating them. His actions were quickly detected by credit union staff, and he was immediately apprehended and handed over to the police authorities.

Further inquiries revealed that the incident was linked to several previous unauthorized withdrawals, highlighting a pattern of misconduct. The officer’s conduct was deemed a serious violation of the Police Disciplinary Code under the Police Act, Cap 18, Vol. IV.

“Following a thorough internal review, the Inspector General of Police, Seedy Mukhtar Touray, confirmed that PC Mballow was found guilty of impersonation, fraudulent conduct, and gross professional misconduct,” the police said in a statement. He was consequently dismissed from the force with immediate effect.

The GPF stressed that the incident was an isolated case and did not reflect the institution’s values or professionalism. The Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline and taking swift action against any officer found in breach of its ethical and professional standards.

In the statement, the GPF assured the public of its dedication to integrity, accountability, and the highest standards of service to the nation.
