The Gambia U-17 team has landed at Modibo Keita International Airport in Mali ahead of their WAFU-A tournament opener against Guinea-Bissau on Sunday.

Head coach Yahya Manneh’s squad is in Mali to compete in this year’s edition of the WAFU-A CAF U-17 AFCON qualifiers.

According to the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), the Baby Scorpions were warmly received upon arrival at Hotel I’Amitie in Bamako, where they will be based for the duration of the tournament.

The team’s preparations are boosted by the addition of goalkeeping coach and former Gambian international Alagie Modou Jobe, popularly known as Toldo. He joined the squad along with captain Alieu Drammeh of FC Barcelona and Ahmed Njundu Kanyi of Sporting Supreme of Nigeria.

“The trio arrived last evening and joined the team as trainer Bakary Sanyang led a light session to activate muscles ahead of the first full training session later in the day,” the GFF said.

The squad is expected to be completed with the arrival of Barak Lamin Munhenk Manneh of SV Curslack Neugamme FC of Germany, who will join the team later.
