Gambia Ferry Services (GFS) Announces Temporary Withdrawal of Kunta Kinteh Ferry

The Gambia Ferry Services (GFS) has announced the temporary withdrawal of the Kunta Kinteh ferry from service from Sunday, November 2nd to Tuesday, November 4th, 2025.

In a statement shared with this medium, GFS said the ferry will resume operations on Wednesday, November 5th. “This planned withdrawal is in line with management’s maintenance policy aimed at ensuring safety, hygiene, and service reliability. During this period, thorough checks will be conducted, and the ferry will undergo a complete repainting,” the statement read.

Officials added that the Kanilai ferry will remain fully operational to continue serving passengers between Banjul and Barra. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation,” said GFS spokesperson Babucarr Suso.
