Faal Accuses Gov’t Of Playing With The Minds Of Gambians

By: Kemo Kanyi

The leader of the APP-Sobeya, Essa Mbaye Faal, has accused the government of President Adama Barrow of playing with the minds of Gambians to create an environment for him to remain in power.

Essa Mbye Faal, who was responding to a radio studio interview over West Coast Radio, alleged that President Barrow’s administration was not interested in the development of The Gambia and its people but was focusing on what he described as terrible arrangements to impoverish average Gambians.

“I called it leaching simply because of an unfair and inequitable arrangement we have. Those who are at the top receive cream, and those at the bottom receive dreads. That kind of government should be voted out of office,” he emphasized.

He states that the government must focus on areas of high necessities for its people, rather than making public mockery of opponents in political rallies, stating that the concern should be about the high cost of living, lack of necessities in hospitals, poor investments in education, claiming that only a little over 5% of kids would have five WASSCE, and terrible state of portable water supply in the country.

Essa Faal also stated that the government should look at mental health with compassion and empathy instead of using it as a tool for mocking fellow politicians.

“That is what they have done in Sukuta. Which is not just distasteful, but it is shocking and disappointing,” he remarked.

He considered the statements made at the NPP’s rally in Sukuta as unfortunate, urging for political utterances that will reflect the reality of the Gambian situation and find possible solutions.
